Title: SSD Solid State Drives
Post by: spic0m on March 31, 2008, 00:39:30 AM
I think everyone heard something about that, a hdd without moving parts and mechanical failures but based on a new NAND flash memory module. Read the below link from sanDisk. I want one NOW!

So is this really the future? No more scratches?

It's not the future, it's the present. I believe that in mostly 2 years we can have all cheap SSD's. DELL is giving them as standard in her new laptops.

For saying bye bye to bad sectors i can compromise even to a lower speed :)
I'll check it out and post some speed tests if i find.

The most slow thing in a PC nowadays is HDD. If it gets slower, what would we do these n-cores?

A very good (but also expensive) backup manager. It makes backups of the hdd to another hdd. This backup is byte by byte and this means that after a crash, you can completely recover the hdd with the os and everything.

There are also very very good free backup mangers (let's not talk aboyt linux)
