I have 4 1.5Volts batteries. Can i use a 7805 to regulate to 5 volts?

nope you cannot. It will need 9 Volts to give you regulated 5 volts.

In some circuits (that draws only a few mAmps) 6volts are enough. But just for a few mAmps.
