Check an inverter on lcd monitor with multimeter.

I want to ask how safe is to check the voltage in LCD monitor inverter? My friend burn a multimeter and I don't want to happens to me... This is the monitor that i ckeck SAMSUNG   gy17csss.

Can you tell me which point can I check the voltage and which point is danger to multimter?

use a multimeter that can measure 2kV and use probes that are safe for that. The inverter Voltage is afaik less than 2kV so you should be on the safe side.
