Evening all..

Currently in the middle of a project to make a teeth whitening lamp using a single LED to test if they actualy work.
the LED im using is USA made one here it is from Farnells..

http://uk.farnell.com/ledengin/lz1-00db00/led-5w-dental-blue/dp/1678946

I will be using a 12v power adaptor to run it. Now im not sure whether i could just use a resistor, from what ive read on this site i may need a driver im prity amature at electronics, but im giving it a go. If someone out there knows the correct driver or resistor for this LED id be over the moon.

Heres a driver the tech guy surgested to me from Farnells in live chat.

http://uk.farnell.com/xp-power/ldu2430s1000/dc-dc-led-driver-constant-i-1000ma/dp/1738296

Now im not a 100% sure about it, its power imput ect, and whether the guy in chat just gave me this to get rid of me lol..I dont want to blow the LED as its £15 to buy.

Thanks guys for any info you can provide.

Hello,
the power output too high, so you will need a driver. So far i have only test the A6210 3A driver which would work nice for you, but it only comes in a tiny QFN package.

Hi, you can try this:

12(V) - 3,6(V) = 8,4V

8,4(V) / 1(A) = 8,4R

8,4(V) * 1(A) = 8,4W
