Hi guys, Greetings from Chania - Greece.

Great job Γιώργο. I admire your talent and patience too. Your topics are very helpfull especially for amateurs.

My name is Dimitris. I' am 44 years old Biomedical Engineer (TEI of Athens). I am working as service engineer for a Sony authorised service center.

I have a broken 40" LCD panel without T-Con as well as without Inverter (ccfl lamps works like a charm). I thought that it could be used as a DIY pcb printout developing unit but  i like ironing!!

Any ideas for what can I do with this are  accepted. I will send photos soon.

Hello Dimitri, welcome to the forum!

Is the LCD working? The first thing that comes to my mind is (what else) an arcade coffee table - you know, KICK OFF!!! Street Fighter... We both were raised with these arcade marvels.

As for the ironing, i totally suggest you give up with this method and start using the photographic method. Its far more simple and superior.

The LCD actually is broken and no repairable. The only thing working is the 12 or 24 (i don't remember) CCFL lamps. The inverter and timing control board that goes with the panel were used for other repairs so i have to make one (inverter). It is very bright and it can be used also as CT and MRI scans projector!!

PS. it is in my future plans to make a DIY arcade.

Thanks.

you can use it to check PCBs or to align the layout foils
