Motorcycle RPM pulse triggered LED's
« on: January 16, 2015, 21:50:15 PM »
Does anyone know if anybody has tried to trigger LED's from the coil pulses. The same location is used for RPM's. I want to have LED's flicker with the engine speed. At idle they would flicker slowly and gradually speed up as the engine speeds up.

Hello Denis
Haven't hard anything like this before, but I bet it is very simple. I suppose you mean the primary of the coil? Use a resistor (i would start my tests with 10K)  and a zener to drop down to say... 8 or 9 volts and drive this to an op-amp to interface your LED.
