Well, i use the ICSP function of pics and i am satisfied with it. A very simple homemade design was enough but i use only pic that supports this function.

Actually it is not so important to choose a programmer that can do anything, as you can choose a cheaper one that doer anything that you want.
Special programmers are the ones that supports MPLAB IDE and can do a real time simulation. These are very good to get.

PICCOLO is cheap and good. Try it. Google PICCOLO pic programmer
