The first data from LHC are ready to be analyzed, these are the first of an estimated 15 million Gigabytes
of data per year demanding 100.000 processors
to manage them. The numbers are giving you a headache.

Investigations at CERN concluded that the cause of the problem was the faulty electrical connection between 2 of the accelerator's magnets. With spare parts on hand and foresight to avoid such problems in the future, LHC's teams are working to put the thing back toghether untill spring 2009.

Despite the known problem that halted LHC it's "official" start will take place tomorrow at CERN with an "invitation only" list of guests and speeches, exhibitions and a buffet.

Parts for the LHC are in place and being connected, we all wait with anticipation to start operating again.

Looool. Although even if there are (removed from mod) parts inside i find it difficult not to be properly inspected.

LHC has started!
From Saturday 7th the collider has been busy again after almost one year of repairs since the malfunction at the first test runs.
Test runs started from October and now the rig is in good order to start the real experimenting again.

New world record for LHC! Still in test phase but this doesn't prevented the LHC team to break the previous world record for highest energy particle accelerator held by the American team since 2001. And the good stuff is yet to come. Stay tuned!
