It's a carrier for god sakes
You mentioned speed

The one i tell you IS compared to Apaches.
We 're talking about a carrier heli? Which one?

You want really an answer to that? really? I do not tell you to make 10 times the way to move them, make it once with 10 copters. During a war, some of them may land, some may not. The enemy is underneath remember? One copter will never land.
You're right, but from base to base? Not all missions have that danger factor.

Did i tell that?
You're talking about another heli, the one i know is Chinook, what you have in mind?

Quote
But does it really makes profit? That is what i am wondering of.
Ask the ones that bought it.

LADA are also still in production.
LADA is also good for what is designed for, cheap and reliable under -40.

Well, it's common sense... But 100 babies to sleep, go 50mt away and listen to them. Then put in the same room a man snoring... Will you listen to the babies?

The major heavy lift helicopters i know are those:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CH-53E_Super_Stallion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MH-53_Pave_Low
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mil_Mi-26

All of them took part in wars succesfully and during peace time have also civilian roles.
Don't think though you mean any of those when you talking about one compared in speed with Apache, maybe an experimental one?

PS. As you see not only Russians find a mammoth heli usefull. :)

Since i'm not being able to convice you about the reasons of excistence of such helis here is a study of U.S army describing what are the uses of such helis and even propose a construction of a new one with 250 tons!!! payload.
As for the super heli you describing i'm not being able to find anything about that on the net.

Cause the link isn't always working i upload a .doc version of the study.
