Soldering station questions
« on: May 18, 2010, 15:18:54 PM »
I reviewed the latest hack about constructing a soldering station. I HAVE TO BUILD ONE!!
Question, being new to PIC I have several questions  about the soldering station.
Every schematic I have seen has the MCLR connected differently. The artical shows Vcc/diode/resistor/connected to PIC
I have only seen Vcc/ resistor(20k)/diode/ MCLR with the ICSP MCLR connected directly to the PIC
The RB6 is tied HIGH via R5 and the connection is marked CLK?
I need to locate parts and order the Maxium chip  plus etch a PCB.

I use this ICSP connection with my ICD2.5 programmer and works fine. Nevertheless, you can use another connection. The RB6 (as i told already in the comments) is there only if i will use (in the future) a pushbitton. You can totally omit this resistor from the circuit. I suggest you keep it for expansion reasons.
