posted February 14 2011 6:19.59 by Giorgos Lazaridis

Meet the word's first automobile ever! 125 years ago, on January 29, 1886, Karl Benz filed a Patent No. 37435 at the Reich Patent Office in Berlin. So, yes,the first car was a Mercedes Benz! It had a four-stroke single cylinder 954cc engine, which delivered the astonishing power of 0.74 BHP at 400 rpm. It was light enough and could reach a top speed of 16 km/h.
