A linear actuator hack on the cheap
posted January 14 2011 20:05.50 by Giorgos Lazaridis

Linear actuators are so fantastic mechanical components for robotics, and also so expensive... Jeremie sent us his latest hack, which comes to save the day for many DIY maniacs. His goal was to create a linear actuator design that is accessible to even electronics enthusiasts on the tightest budget, and so he did! Watch the following video to see yourself the materials he used for this actuator. He recommends leaving the "actuator" under hot water for a few minutes and then use an old toothbrush to clean off the remaining residue before hacking it. His actuator has a stroke over 3''. Thanks [Jeremie]
