Thermodynamics predicts the gruesome fate of the Universe [Science]

Here is a short part from a very interesting documentary series from History Channel named "Universe". In this part scientists explain how the combination of the first and second laws of thermodynamics can predict the inevitably death of the universe. The first law tells us that the total energy and matter in the universe remains the same - in other words, no more mass or energy can be added from nothing (unlike money in our modern monetary system). The second law of thermodynamics states that the total amount of entropy always increases. In other words, all molecules, all atoms, all particles are subject to decay. Since matter is made of atoms and molecules, matter is subject to decay as well. Things rot, rust and die. Same thing will eventually happen to the whole universe...
