China owns the world's longest bridge
posted July 6 2011 18:19.52 by Giorgos Lazaridis

It is official: The Jiaozhou Bay Bridge is 26.4 miles long, 2.5 miles longer than the previous record-holding bridge, the Louisiana's Lake Pontchartrain Causeway (23.8 miles). The bridge will cost approximately 9.938 billion yuan (~US$1.5 billion). It is estimated that it will shorten travel time from Qingdao to the outlying region by more than half and relieve pressure on the existing Jiaozhou Bay Expressway.
