DIY plant watering system

I do not think that i am capable to have plants in my house, although i would like to. Watering them is something that i would certainly forget to do. This guy from deddieslab has probably the same problem with me. Unlike me though, he did make something to solve it. He used an Atmega8 microcontroller clocked at 1MHz (from the built-in oscillator). Using a pushbutton, the operator can select the day that is most convenient for watering. Another pushbutton can manually give some more water to the plant. An auxiliary input accepts an external triggering signal to start the pump, and an output is turned high when the pump operates. More info in his site.
