Can 555 procuce music?
« on: March 28, 2008, 12:45:57 PM »
I was very surprised!

I was making a circuit for fishing. I found it on a magazine. It has a 555 (do not know why exactly) and after this, there is a buzzer. It also has one potentiometer to adjust sensitivity of fish eat sense (you understand).

Now the strange thing. I was playing around with this. Then, i started to open and close the potensiometer real fast. Every 8-9 tines that i did that, the buzzer start playing music! Really! I do not lie!

It had 7 different small musics. Simple and small but 7.

Is possible that 555 could do that?

NO WAY

maybe the buzzer was not simply a buzzer.

No not.

This is not in the specifications.

You had a buzzer with a built in circuit and the well known 7 tones (everyone has heard these tones i know what you mean). These buzzers are for bells. You where supplying a frequency from 555 so you did not hear the music. But playing with the pot, you somehow set the 555 output always high and thus the buzzer where singing!

Maybe you are right. It looks like not normal buzzer. It is a little bit tall for a buzzer. Approximately 2cm.

Hey why don't you change it with a normal-looking buzzer and test it? And post the results!
