I need to control a fan speed
« on: March 04, 2008, 14:40:56 PM »
I need to control a fan speed and i am thinking of using a dimmer design that i found. This designs does not make clear if it can be used for controlling the fan. It is a 220V 50Hz fan. Should i test it?

It is most likely impossible for a dimmer to be designed with the capability to control inductive load. An inductive load must have an appropriate output.

Get it in examples:

For low speeds it might work. If you get to high speeds... konflikt

A dimmer is a dimmer and a controller is a controller.  :P

Absolutely not. You can efficiently control DC with PWM but not AC

What range do you want to control it and with what step? There are several ways to do it.

What do yo mean? I want to control it from 0 to max rpm proportionally.

But i think i have found a way to do it.
